Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 15:13

say’s A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Don’t let what’s happening on the outside affect you on the inside. You must stay focused on the destination not the journey. You must be who you are and not who people want you to be. Realize that the world is a bad place with bad people and simultaneously a good place with good people. What i’m trying to say is that trouble don’t last always.

You must protect your heart from the bad parts of life. You must remain unaffected by the world. Although it is often difficult not to be affected when bad things are happening in your life you must keep your eye on the prize and see the bigger picture. We allow life to change us for the worse then we spend most of our lives trying to undo the change we have allowed to occur. That’s why it is important to know where you are going in life and focus on that.

On your journey there will be many detours and road blocks but no matter what you have to keep going. There will be naysayers and people who will try not to only discourage you but break your spirit completely.Your character will be attacked and you will be called everything but a child of God. You will be lied on and talked about without reason. Your heart maybe under constant attack but you must always refer to your purpose when you feel like giving up. Never forget why you were put here on this earth. Never forget why God chose you. You must never forget what you had to go through just to get to the point you are at right now. Know that what man did not give he can not take away.

God only wants to make you stronger. The heart is a muscle and if you think about other muscle’s in the body they require exercise and heavy lifting to grow. Think of God as your personal trainer and think of circumstances as the weights. When one set of weights gets easier to lift that’s when God adds more weights. To build muscle you must constantly break muscle down. Things may get hard and you may be sore but if you keep going after a while you see a physical change in yourself. Exercising not only changes you physically but mentally as well. It is said that exercising cause endorphin’s to be released in your body making you happier. So if we view obstacles in life as exercise that means the harder you workout the more significant the change, the more significant the progression.

Life is a process you have to keep telling your self that it will get better. Sometimes you have block out whats going on around you. You can allow yourself to be distracted or baited into something that will lead you astray. You must not allow yourself to be led by fickle emotions that can change at any moment. Look at every situation as a third party bystander. Weigh your options and think about the consequences before you act because one wrong move can send several steps back on your journey.

In life everyone you started with you won’t finish with. Everyone can’t go to your destination with you so they often don’t want to see you get there at all. You can’t let peoples lack of support hurt your feelings you just have to accept that’s how people are. As you grow in Christ it will get easier to continue your journey alone but you must learn to protect your heart and spirit from all evil and negativity.

Proverbs 4:23-26

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
