CHAPTER 11: Hero’s and Villain’s

11.1 Hero’s and Villain’s: Revelation

“Okay be careful.” Soo Yun said as she went back into her classroom.

Asia did not want to be Giovanni’s girlfriend but she knew he was harmless as long as she was with him. She didn’t believe that Giovanni would have murdered anyone if he did not have superpowers. Asia believed that the powers had somehow corrupted Giovanni just like they did Chin Ho hundreds of years ago. But she also felt that having a plan B was important just in case he started to act up again.

Asia was only a few minutes late for her third period math class. She quietly entered the classroom and sat in the only open seat right next to Giovanni. “Where were you?” Giovanni asked.

“Minding my business.” Asia said as she took out her math book. “Where are we?” she whispered.

“Oh now you want to talk.” Giovanni grinned.

“No I just want to know where the teacher is in the math book.” Asia whispered angrily. “And how come in every class we have together I always end up sitting next to you?” she asked annoyed.

“Because I told everyone my girlfriend has to sit next to me.” Giovanni said with a smile. “Now stop with the attitude and act like you like me.” He said with a smile.

“I don’t like you though.” Asia said sarcastically with a fake smile on her face.

“You agreed to be my girlfriend and act like you like me.” Giovanni whispered angrily.

“Yeah I did but why don’t you try being more likeable and help me out a little.” She replied.

“Giovanni and Asia pay attention!” The teacher yelled.

“Yes Mr. Santos.” They answered in unison.

“Okay I’ll do what ever you want.” Giovanni whispered to Asia. “Just stop being so mean to me.” He pleaded.

Asia looked over at Giovanni and he seemed truly hurt by her attitude towards him. As she looked into his eyes she began to see how much he really liked her and it made her feel bad for hurting his feelings. “Okay.” She replied calmly.

“We are on page twenty eight.” Giovanni said sadly as he started to listen to the teacher.

“Thanks.” Asia said sweetly as she turned to page twenty-eight. “Hey Giovanni if all this had not happened would you still like me?” Asia asked shyly.

“I don’t know but now that I do I cant imagine not liking you.” He replied.

Asia smiled and started to blush as she lowered her head back into her math book. “Okay everyone workout the even numbered problems on page twenty-eight and if you have any questions you should have been paying attention.” Mr. Santos said looking in Giovanni and Asia’s direction. Giovanni began to laugh out loud challenging Mr. Santos authority. “What’s so funny Mr. Yu please share it with the class?” Mr. Santos asked angrily.

“Oh nothing just laughing at you.” Giovanni grinned.

“Did I do something to amuse you?” Mr. Santos asked annoyed.

“No its just you.” Giovanni replied. “You are a joke.” He said sternly.

“Giovanni.” Asia whispered through clenched teeth trying to calm him down.

Mr. Santos began to chuckle. “Is that so?” he asked.

“Yeah.” Giovanni said.

“That goes to show you class that money does not buy you common sense.” Mr. Santos said. “Obviously Mr. Yu doesn’t watch the news or otherwise he would be paying attention in my class instead of flirting with Mrs. Tao so he can support himself when his father is undoubtedly hauled off to jail for his unsavory business practices.” He added cockily. Giovanni jumped up angrily from his desk, he started to growl and show his fangs startling Mr. Santos. Asia grabbed his arm and pulled him back into his seat before anyone else could see his fangs protruding from his mouth but Mr. Santos had already gotten a good look. “Giovanni go to the principals office.” Mr. Santos stammered nervously.

9.2 The Social Club: Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

“I’m here aren’t I? Angelo said angrily as he glared at his uncle.

Geno nodded his head, “Okay.” “But I would watch that attitude son I have killed men for less.” He said as he walked away leaving Angelo bruiting against the wall.

Angelo watched from the back of the room as a woman got on stage, grabbed the mike and began to speak over the PA system. The woman notified everyone that the cocktail hour was over and ordered them all into the dining room for dinner. “Good this thing almost over.” Angelo mumbled as he followed everyone into the next room.

There were several lavishly decorated tables with name places all over the room. Angelo slowly maneuvered his way through the crowd of people to the seat with his name on it. His chair was right in between his cousin Alejandro and his Uncle Carmine. “Angelo where you been?’ his uncle Carmine asked as he sat down.

“Around.” Angelo said.

“There are a lot of cute girls here I hope you got some numbers.” Carmine laughed as he nudged Angelo in the ribs.

“Nah I didn’t even notice.” Angelo said as he looked over at Camilla who quickly looked away.

When everyone had a taken a seat waiters and waitresses filed out from the kitchen carrying bottles wine. Each waiter and waitress poured guests a glass of wine then made their way back to the kitchen. Then almost immediately returned with appetizers. Camilla was amazed; the dinner was flowing like a well-oiled machine. “Wow this looks delicious.” Camilla said as the waiter sat the plate of food in front of her.

After every guest had an appetizer in front of them a woman got on stage and introduced herself. “Good evening everyone its me again.” The woman laughed. “I’m Veronica Foster my husband Charles Foster is the president of the Union Social Club and I will be your emcee tonight.” She said. We are very honored to be celebrating with you all the initiation of our new inductees tonight.” She said with a smile. “And now I want to introduce Chef Bonnay the very talent chef in charge of your meals tonight.” She said as she handed the chef the mike and sat down.

“Good evening everyone what you have in front of you is a Pan-Seared Foie Gras with Figs and Port Wine Sauce paired with a red wine please enjoy.” Chef Bonnay said then he put down the mike and returned back to the kitchen.

Camilla unfolded her napkin and placed it in her lap. She picked up her fork and dug into the beautiful prepared foie gras. The she took a dainty forkful and put in in her mouth. Camilla savored her first bite like it was her last it was the best thing she had ever tasted in her life. “Is it good?” Alejandro smiled as he watched her eat.

“Its amazing.” Camilla said. “You know I always use to watch cooking shows and dream about eating all the things I knew I would never taste.” She said. “My mother and father gave up so much to be together they relinquished money, power and even family.” She told him. “We weren’t rich, we weren’t poor but we were happy.” Camilla said with a sad smile. “I’m wrong for liking this version of life better?” she asked.

“No.” Alejandro laughed as he shook his head.

Chapter 9: Ninety-Nine Problems

9.2 Unsuspecting Victim: Sweet Emotion

Dawn got into the drivers seat of her black Range Rover then shut and locked her door. She nervously looked around the parking lot as she slowly unlocked her glove compartment. Dawn took out a black leather wallet filled with several fakes ID’s and picked one from the bunch. “I guess I’ll be Chantal Riverton tonight.” She said with a mischievous grin as she put the wallet back into the glove compartment. Dawn took out a pair of green colored contacts from her center console and put them on. She was pleased as she stared at herself in the rearview mirror.

“Okay Chantal lets do this.” She said as she put her key in the ignition and started up her car.

Dawn lived for the moments when she could dress to kill. She loved the art of seduction. She appreciated the well-calculated moves it took to seduce a man and get him to leave the club with you. Dawn felt like an actress when met a victim and revenge was her motivation. She divulged herself into each character she played. Each character’s backstory was extensive and detail.

Chantal Riverton was an aspiring actress and waitress men loved those types. They loved a woman that was in need and struggling because she had lower standards. She could be talked into doing almost anything for money if she was hungry enough and Dawn was insatiable.

She amazed herself at how well she played the damsel in distress that would do anything for the right man with the right amount of funds. It was almost criminal how well she played on each man emotions it was really a talent she had. You had to be able to see what each man desired and be that. Some men wanted a hoe and a one-night stands others wanted a loving, caring break from responsibility and their nagging wives. Dawn was what whatever she needed to be until she wasn’t and when she wasn’t she was dangerous.

Dawn pulled into the parking a lot of club Vibe and parked in the rear. She checked her make up in her visor mirror and reapplied her lipstick. When she was satisfied with her appearance she closed her visor and got out of the car. From the moment her stilettos hit the pavement Dawn was on go. She was no longer Dawn Malawi forensic scientist she was Chantal Riverton sultry actress.

Dawn twisted her hips with vigor as she treated the parking lot like a runway. Her attention was focused on the entrance to the club as men hooted and hollered at her. Dawn would only pay attention to one man the entire night and that man had to fit her criteria, taken and trifling. Dawn sashayed passed the line of people outside the club and right up too the door man and handed him her ID.

“You good.” He smiled without even looking at her ID as he lifted the velvet rope.

“Thank you.” Dawn said with a seductive smile as she went into the club.

As Dawn made her way to the bar she began to attract onlookers and catcalls. Dawn ignored the unwanted and unappreciated advances as she took a seat at the bar. “Can I buy you drink” A deep manly voice asked.

Dawn turned to her left to see a handsome, dark haired man in a very expensive suit and wedding ring on his finger. “Yes if its okay with your wife.” She said as she smiled at him.

“Oh this.” He laughed nervously gesturing to his ring. “I’m divorced I just don’t have the heart to take it off just yet.” He said.

 “Is that so?” Dawn grinned.

9.2 Lovely Entanglement: Two Wrongs

“We talked over an hour ago why aren’t you dressed yet?” Dominic asked as he walked inside Sandra’s apartment.

“I couldn’t decide what to wear I was thinking that maybe you could help me out.” Sandra laughed. “Have a seat can I get you anything to drink?” she asked.

“Sure why not.” Dominic replied nervously.

“I got vodka and tequila.” Sandra said.

“Tequila is fine.” Dominic said. “So how long do you think its going to take you to get dressed?” he asked.

“I got it down to two outfits I just need your opinion then we can go.” Sandra said.

Sandra walked seductively out of the kitchen carrying two drinks. “Here you go.” She said as she handed Dominic a tall glass of tequila.

“That’s a huge glass I do have to drive.” Dominic said as he took the glass and sat it down on the coffee table.

Sandra giggled as she sat down beside Dominic on the couch. She took a huge gulp of tequila and began to run her fingers through his hair. “I missed you.” She said softly as she sat her glass down on the coffee table and climbed onto Dominic’s lap.

“What are you doing?” Dominic asked confused.

“Welcoming you back.” Sandra said as she nibbled on his earlobe.

Dominic grabbed Sandra by the shoulders and pushed her away. “I’m not back.” He said sternly. “Sandra me and you are just friends I told you that.” He said annoyed.

“Come on Dominic don’t like you didn’t miss me.” Sandra said as she kissed Dominic passionately.

Dominic pushed Sandra from his lap and onto the couch. “As much as I would love to take advantage of this moment right now I don’t want you to get the wrong impression about us, I don’t have those kind of feelings for you.” Dominic said as he jumped up from the couch and began to pace.

“So I was just sex to you?” Sandra asked coyly as she stood up and dropped her robe revealing her lace intimates.

“It’s not like that I think you are a cool person but I’m just not the relationship type.” He stammered trying to explain himself as heart began to beat faster.

“What about Aaliyah?” Sandra asked angrily as she got in Dominic’s face.

“That’s different.” He replied.

“Different.” She said angrily as she nodded her head and began to cry. “What’s so different about her?” she yelled. “What does she have that I don’t?” she screamed.

“Sandra please stop lets not go down that road you are only going to get your feelings hurt.” Dominic pleaded.

“Oh my goodness I cant believe that I ever liked you.” Sandra cried. “You are such a fucking asshole!” she yelled.

“Okay well I think I should leave.” Dominic said as he headed for the door.

“No wait!” Sandra called out.

“What?” Dominic asked frustrated as he turned around.

“Can we make love one last time, I think you owe me that much?” She asked in tears.

“But I don’t love you Sandra.” Dominic said as he opened the door and left.

As Dominic walked down the hallway to the elevator he had a epiphany. He really was ready to settle down with Aaliyah and leave his old life behind. Dominic loved Aaliyah and he made it up in his mind that from now on he would show her and be a better man.

9.2 Paparazzi: Lights, Camera, Action

Jessica shakily took a deep breath and followed Garcia to the front room of the store. As Jessica stepped out of the back room she was amazed by what she saw. There were tons of people with cameras up against the windows of the store taking pictures. Kash stood in between two racks of clothes talking on the phone like nothing was happening. “You ready to go?” he asked as he spotted Jessica.

“This is crazy.” Jessica replied in shock.

“I’m going to have to agree with Jessica I have never this amount of paparazzi for one person.” Garcia said.

“Yeah I know its great right?” Kash grinned as he looked out the window to the frenzied photographers. “This is only the beginning so you better get use to this and quickly.” He said as he took Jessica’s hand.

“Does a person ever get use to this?” Jessica asked.

“No not really they just good at faking it.” Kash said with a smile.

“I’m going to go out the back I’ll see you two at the next shop after lunch.” Garcia said.

“Okay bye.” Kash said and Jessica waved goodbye as Garcia headed to the back room of the store.

“Okay when we go out there just smile and wave, I will do all the talking.” Kash said to Jessica.

“What will you say?” Jessica asked nervously.

“Well the label has already made a statement saying you are our new artist and they are pushing an early release for the song you recorded, it will probably be on the radio later on today.” Kash replied. “I’m just going to introduce you as my girlfriend.” He added.

“Wow this all moving so fast.” Jessica said. “Does stuff usually happen this quick?” she asked overwhelmed.

“It’s not typical but for some yes.” Kash said. “Look don’t be afraid this is good.” Kash assured her.

“Its just that I know this has nothing to do with my talent all this media attention is about you and the new chick on your arm.” Jessica sighed.

“That’s why we are moving so quickly to get your single out, I want people to know that you are not just some trophy I want them to see how talented you are.” Kash said. “I know all the cameras are about me but this your fifteen minutes and what you do with them will decide the rest of your life.” He said. “So stop being shy, take a deep breath, smile and act like you belong here.” He added.

Jessica took a long deep breath, put on her shades and tightened her grip on Kash’s hand. “Okay I’m ready.” She said.

Kash smiled at Jessica and they walked out of the store into the crowd of people. “Kash!” people yelled from the crowd. “Is this your girlfriend?” Someone screamed. “How long have you two been dating?” another person asked.

“Calm down everyone!” Kash yelled as Jessica stood next him smiling and posing confidently for the cameras. “I’m going to answer all of your questions.” He said. “Yes this is my girlfriend and she also a talented rapper and singer who I just signed to a record deal her single will be out later on today.” He told the crowd. “Now excuse us we are late for lunch.” He added with a smile as he and Jessica got into their car.

CHAPTER 10: Hero’s and Villain’s

10.4 Hero’s and Villain’s: Reaction

“You have what?” Soo Yun asked confused.

“I have superpowers.” Asia said slowly.

“Look this is no time to be playing Giovanni is crazy.” Soo Yun said.

“I’m not playing I have superpowers and so does Giovanni that’s why we can’t go to the cops.” Asia explained.

“Asia are you okay?” Soo Yun asked concerned.

“I’m fine I’m not crazy!” Asia exclaimed. “What I’m saying is true and I can prove it to you.” She said.

“Okay calm down lets say I do believe you how did you and Giovanni get these so called powers?” Soo Yun asked.

“It was that potion or whatever that was I drank from my medallion.” Asia said. “The story we read in English about Longwei is true when I drank that potion Giovanni got powers too.” Asia went on. “You still don’t look like you believe me.” Asia said.

“Because this sounds insane!” Soo Yun exclaimed.

“Follow me I can prove it to you.” Asia said as she grabbed Soo Yun’s wrist and pulled her into a bathroom down the hall.

“Look whatever is wrong with you and Giovanni I’m sure we can get you two some help.” Soo Yun said as they entered the bathroom.

“Just be quiet and look.” Asia said annoyed as she dropped her bags on the bathroom floor. Asia began to check the bathroom stalls to make sure she and Soo Yun were alone. Asia lifted her hands and began to focus. She was trying desperately to produce her powers and prove Soo Yun wrong.

“Nothing is happening.” Soo Yun said sarcastically.

“Just wait!” Asia yelled as her eyes turned red and her hands burst into flames.

“What the fuck?” Soo Yun screamed startled as she backed up against the wall.

“See I told you!” Asia exclaimed.

“Oh my goodness this is crazy, I must be dreaming.” Soo Yun mumbled.

“You are not dreaming this is real and Giovanni is a homicidal maniac with superpowers.” Asia said as she grabbed Soo Yun by her shoulders.

“What are we going to do?” Soo Yun asked as she snapped out of her initial shock.

“I don’t know I can’t beat him.” Asia sighed. “I guess I will just be his girlfriend like he’s asked so I can at least keep an eye on him.” She said.

“We can’t just let him get away with murdering two of our classmates.” Soo Yun said. “Maybe there is something in the folklore that says how we can defeat him.” She said. “I mean I don’t have superpowers and I can’t just wait around to be his next victim.” She added nervously.

“I think you are right there maybe a way to defeat him.” Asia said. “Before I found out Giovanni had powers he was telling me that he did some research on Longwei and found some information that wasn’t in our history book.” She said.

“Okay I’m on it if there is some information to find I will find it.” Soo Yun said.

“Cool let’s meet at my house after school I think my aunt can be of some help.” Asia said. “Well I better get to class I have gotten into trouble for today.” She said as they walked out of the bathroom into the empty hallway.
